Hi all, maybe someone could help me. I have a topographical survey drawing with approx. 3500 points with x, y and z coords. I want to create a table/ mtext line that details the x, y, and z coords automatically for print out without me actually having to check properties and type in each point details. Basically, I want to assign an attribute to each point required.
Here is the twist. I want to be able to adjust the value of each point within that text line automatically with a formula. Lets say the surveyor gave my base point the value 0, 0, 0. I know that the GPS coords (Northings and Eastings) of that point is N100,000 and E100,000. Can I assign a formula that will manipulate and adjust each related point in my survey according to the actual Ordnance Survey point?
Hope I made myself clear. If you need any more info. just ask.
Thanks,
Eoin

Do you just need to move the points or will they need rotated as well? If they need to be rotated you would need to know the angle and/or have reference points to rotate properly.

You can move and rotate them and then create an attribute extraction template, then extract the coordinate data to a file which you can then print out.

Yeah, I realised yesterday that I could just move the survey!!!! Many thanks. Will the attribute extraction process place an ID on each point that will be easily related to the printed table? Will this require an action on each point or can it be applied throughout the drawing?

If the survey point blocks have an attribute assigned for point number, and generally they do, you could use that in the extraction template. If they don't you may have to seek another method.

If you post your file (considering it isn't too large) and give some idea of what direction you're headed I'll have a look at it and throw some advice at you.

Thats brilliant. many thanks. I dont have my hands on the survey yet. I will be getting it in 2 weeks and am just preparing for the workload.... I might experiment with an old survey and see how I get on. If I have any bother with it in a few weeks then I more than likely be in touch. Thansk for advice to date. Much appreciated.
