When inserting an x-ref (title block), shouldn't it appear within the host drawing on its original layer(s), i.e. the layers it is drawn on, in the source drawing? I have had difficulties with tb's inserting on a layer that happened to be "on" in the host drawing, and happened to be a no-plot layer, which creates problems if one does not do a full print preview (which one should always do, anyway), and catch the mistake in time. I could always pre-set the layer in the host drawing prior to insertion, but isn't there a way to bring the referenced drawing in on its own layer(s) by default? Thanks a bunch.

if the object exists on layer "0" it might move it to the active layer. i'm not 100% on this one, i can't say i recall encountering this issue, but i have on far too many occasions received plans for another firm and they have far too much stuff on the zero layer, i try and freeze the layer of said objects and it freezes my 0 layer. it isn't the biggest deal, i just open their drawing and move the objects to another layer, but it is a nuisance i would love to be able to avoid.
