Hi,
I am a manager in an architectural practice and am embarking on a high rise project. However, our office has never had experience in using xrefs and i was told that this a useful tool. Is there any sites that gives a basic on the xref naming standards for ease of folder managements and drawings.
What would be a beginner's guide to start for the naming of xrefs?
Any help is good help.
cheers,
Fabian

You should keep line drawing in separate files & name it like
_xref-lvl1
_xref-lvl2
and so on. also make sure to keep all the plans in same postion in relation to 0,0,0 in all the files.
so with having insbase value-1 when you x-ref one level plan into another level plan to coordinate it comes at a same point at 0,0,0 insertion.

Dipali has got it right. Floor by Floor is the go..
We also file the drawings in there individual floors in folders to save any revisions in the model and have tracebility without destroying the original files. Once you utilise the power of xrefs you will not want to do it any other way..
This is going to be an awesome learning curve for you, and I wish you every success in pursuing this venture.. Well done...:D
