xsparksx Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I'm running Autocad mep 2009. I am getting a message where my ribbon should be that says "the ribbon does not have any tabs or panels currently loaded". My ribbon worked fine yesterday morning and when I opened CAD a few hours later the ribbon was gone. There's nothing under my CUI for the ribbon. I don't have the + sign next to ribbon tabs or panels. I can't think of anything that could have caused this problem. Can anybody help me out?? Quote
ReMark Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Still trying, huh? OK...I'll give it a shot. Have you customized your CUI at all? Just asking as this may become an issue later on. Have you tried the Repair option on your installation disk? Would you consider swapping out the malfunctioning CUI for a fresh copy (see what I mean)? Have you tried searching at or posting to the AutoDe$k Discussion Groups? Quote
ReMark Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Well I just checked the MEP Discussion Group and one other person posted your exact problem almost word-for-word. No one has replied to his post which was submitted today. Will check back tomorrow. Perhaps a complete removal and reinstall might work. Quote

Have you tried searching at or posting to the AutoDe$k Discussion Groups? No, I haven't touched my CUI file. I'm waitng for the IT guy to show up at work so I can get the disk and I'll give the repair a try. Then i'll try uninstalling and reinstalling. Hopefully one of those will work. Thanks for your help ^_^ Quote
ReMark Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 xsparksx: Did you arrive at a solution to your problem? If so, what method was used? Please share with us. You might also check for a service pack for MEP '09. I see they have just released one for vanilla AutoCAD that has as one of the fixes something addressing similar sounding CUI problems. Quote
xsparksx Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 The repair didn't work and tech support told me to try over writing the CUI under "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Autodesk\ACD-MEP 2009\enu\Support" with the CUI under "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD MEP 2009\UserDataCache\Support" but that didn't work either. I'll try the service pack and see what happens. I'll keep you updated. Thanks so much for all your help ^_^ Quote
xsparksx Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 My problem is solved. I had to rename a file under my registry which makes AutoCAD not recognize that it’s been launched (which I don’t recommend doing unless you know exactly what your doing. I had someone waking me through the process). When I open AutoCAD it starts the install process like it did when I first launched it on my computer. It doesn’t save any of your settings though so you have to take the time to set everything up again, which for me was no big deal. It was a lot faster then doing a complete uninstall and reinstall. Thanks so much for your help ^_^ Quote
ReMark Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 The thanks goes back to you in return for posting the solution. Many times we're left to wonder if the problem was solved and more importantly how it was solved. What made you look at the Registry? Quote
xsparksx Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 I was on the phone with a technical specialist from Microdesk who walked me through it. Quote

biodome Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I also got this issue, found this thread through google. any chance u can tell me what is that need to be changed in the registry? Quote
shgaffney Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Hello, I had the same error and I was able to avoid it by switching the settings to Autocad Classic. I did this by left clicking on the gear icon at the lower right of the screen and selecting Autocad classic. I have had this issue happen spontaneously twice since getting 2009. I hope that works for you if you need it in the future. Quote
