looking for an autocad program that will allow you to pick one or more layered objects and save a usernamed layer state.
i use the layer manager end is a time-waste having to pick the layers from the dialogue box.
i want to pick the objects from the model layout.
i work with very large assemblies that have thousands of solids, xrefs etc and many layers.
im using version 2004

are you wanting to be able to pick a certain amount and make a layer state with only those layers on, named your loginname? is this correct?

if i have a layout perhaps with all the layers on and its wireframe and im needing to pick and choose which layers i want to save as a layer state, i will pick each solid entity and the program should automatically save the solids i picked as a "named" layer state.
before picking the solids i could already have a layer state named.
the program i need should allow me to simply pick each solid (each solid would have a layer name already) and then prompt me for a layer state name.
after typing in a layer state name, press return and the program will turn off all the layers i did not pick and i should only see the solids i picked. all other layers would be turned off.
then i can continue turning on all the layers when needed.
and using the layer state command i will see only the solids i want to view.
