Hatches in solid black whilst plotting

All hatches come out as solid black lines on our B&W Plotter even if they're really light in colour. What can I do to change that I don't want to plot it out in greyscale as some of the lines look grainy. Anywhere I can have a cross between the two?

It's like all colours come out black.

Erm... set up a new plot style with every colour set to plot black... then select one & set it to colour 8 or something which is the colour your hatching should be set to so that only your hatching prints out grey scaled.

good good, I'm gonna tell other cad bloke that he should stop being so silly these are the reasons we should be using .ctb files not just plot to 'none'
