Lineweight scaling

I have a .ctb file I use to define lineweights for plotting. We plot exclusively in black and white, so we assign lineweights based on color. However, when we switch to a smaller paper size, the finer details (or often the whole drawing) is reduced to mud when we attempt to put a drawing intended for 24x36 on 8.5x11.

Is there any way to automatically scale lineweights based on the size of paper? For instance, turning my .98 standard line weight to .35.

Is the only option to define a new plot style table and scale them myself?

Try adjusting the Plot scale and turning 'Scale lineweights' on
