View Full Version : help re-installing license on server

the mbr on our server was currupted and as a result the server was reformated and bla bla bla. i now need to reinstall the autocad lic for mechanical 2007 so that the desktops can access it. having never done this before i am looking for any help i can get. i have tried looking through all the autodesk documentation... geeez who wrote this stuff. hurts my head to try and figure it out.

i figure someone out there has been there done this and knows exactly what to do with out all the mumble jumble.

I believe when you go to reinstall Autocad it will have the option to install as a Stand Alone version or on a Server.
The installation disk should automaticly run you through the steps.
Also do a search on this blog and Autodesks web site.

Install the license server software, then obtain a new license file from your reseller (you will need to give them the MAC address and hostname of your new server) - install the LIC file and you are done.

Be sure to point the client machines to the new license server. How to do that using an environment variable can be found here:
