I need some layer help
File 1
I have a dwg file which has had all the layer attributes taken out of it. all the lines within the drawing are on seperate layers but the layers themselves are all the same (colour, line type and line weight).
File 2
If i have another file with the same layer names but with all the attributes as i want them (with all the right colours and line weights).
Can i import layers from the second file into the first file and therefore the first file inheriting the attributes from the second file??

I wouldn't have thought so. Genearally the destination file has the master attributes which the source inherits. Can you do it the other way first - possibly clearing out what you don't need before importing.

one method to achieve what u want is
save File 2 as File 1-new.
Than erase>all
than go to file 1> do copy with basepoint 0,0,0 all objects and paste it in file 1-new at 0,0,0
than delete file 1 & rename file 1-new as file 1

Thanks for that,
only thing is i can not do any type of copy from one file to another as file was previously an archiCAD file and when i do a copy of any sort the drawing 'sneezes' a heap of hidden drawings

That's because you're using LT. Laytrans is not available in LT.

Oops... I really should pay closer attention to the version.
