Hi guys, I have a problem importing dwg files into max that hopefully some of you guys can help with.

I managed to import a dwg drawing file fine with all its complexities and layers the first time with no problem.

However when I import now it seems to have simplified the model e.g Taken some layers out, and the most annoying thing it has grouped some of the drawing together, because my task is to simplify the drawing(deleting some parts of the drawing, not whole pieces) this is unsuitable.

Im using polytrans for 3ds max for my import. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Cheers

Sorry, I've never used Polytrans. Why don't you just Import your dwg straight into Max? Why do you need this 3rd party program?

Unfortunately max freezes when i use its internal exporter, the file size is quite large however.

If that's the case, then it might be a good idea to break your dwg up into logical pieces and then Import them all separately?

Yes that seems to be the most logical approach unforunately:(. Seems strange because the import worked perfect at first.

Thanks for your time cad64
