AutoCAD 2006 has now been announced. You can see details of the new features here (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=5138869). It does look very interesting.
Also, Autodesk seem to have changed their logo - well, the font is different. Not sure it's an improvement

The only thing I've read about it so far is that they are trying to downplay the importance/prominence of the command line.
At first that sounds like a something to make it more user-friendly / less intimidating for beginners. I don't know how that will play out for professional users who would rather use key strokes than mouse clicks.

The current issue of AUGI World (http://www.augi.com/publications/augiworld/marapr2005.lowres.pdf) (4.4MB PDF) has a comprehensive look at what's new in 2006. There are a number of interesting new features, of which, yjr nre custom user interface (CUI) looks to be the most radical.

Will ACAD run on Windows 2000 or just XP?
