You haven't stated which version of AutoCAD you are running.
The floorplan should be drawn full size in model space ie. 1m = 1m
You need to go to a Layout tab, set up the settings for the page setup and then create a viewport for your drawing. Normally you are better to create a special layer called 'Viewports' before creating the viewport (make this new layer the current one) - this layer can then be switched off later so that it does not print.
I find it easiest to call up the Viewports toolbar when working in a Layout. Right click over any toolbar and select Viewports to get the toolbar on screen.
You could start by selecting the Single Viewport tool and pressing ENTER to fit the new viewport to the paper. If you then double click inside the viewport to make it active you will see the scale for your drawing shown on the Viewports toolbar. You can now change the scale for the viewport from the drop down list or type in your own scale to suit.
Hope this helps.

Tutorial 'Layout Viewports' in the tutorials pull down menu, www.autocadzone.com (oops  typo corrected)
Please visit my other tutorials and examples of students work as a thank you.
Cheers

PS http://pointa.autodesk.com/local/enu/portal/Articles/article.jsp?articleId=15732 shows another way using my fav 'properties' docker

Thanks for fixing the link
But I'm not getting anywhere.. Am new to Autocad.
Lets say am to draw a box 2x2 m.
This is ok. Done it in the model. But now i want to print this out in a scale of 1:100.
I have done a lot but cant get this right... Please help me out with this example.. If i just can get this right I can figure out the rest..
thanks in advance.

Can you see the Model tab and the Layout tab at the bottom of the Acad screen?
Have you tried working in the Layout?
Have you set up your page for printing using the Page Setup when you first click on the Layout tab?
We need to know what you are doing from the point you finish your drawing in model space if we are to be of help to you.
Nick's link above to the Autodesk tutorial on paper space is a good starter.
You need to be more specific about what it is you are doing before we can take you to the next stage.

Well from my experience, i`ll describe the different step i`m doing to plot a drawing to scale ... in CAD2002
1. Create a new drawing (look at the bottom your drawing, you have three menu: `Model` - `layout 1` - `layout 2`)
. Model is where your draw your plan or box
. layout (1 or 2) is your `Paper Space` where you scale your drawing onto a canvas (A3 - A2 - A1 ... etc)
2. You draw your box 2000mm x 2000mm in the `Model Space.
-> Type distance in mm
3. Clic onto the `Layout 1`, you will have a display from which you set up your page to the required size (A3 - A1 etc), you choose your printer, the orientation (landscape - portrait) .. ect, clic OK ... you have a canvas (say you are working onto an A3) which display two rectangle.
One is doted, this is the print margin of the printer onto your A3, the other is plain, this is your window from where you will be able to scale the drawing.
4. To scale your drawing now, you have to reverse to `model space` by only typing: MS in the command toobar (do not go back to model space, stay on your canvas page)
5. As soon as you type `MS` and hit return, the plain line on the canvas becomes a chunky line: you are now in the model space, able to scale your drawing to any scale.
6. Type Z (for `ZOOM`)
7. Type S (for `SCALE`)
8. You then have to enter a scale factor, which is your output scale.
You want your square at scale 1:100. You have to type like this:
1/(whatever the scale you want)xp
it will look like: 1/100xp in your case
9. Hit return, and look at your drawing, your square is now scaled to 1/100. Reverse your canvas to `Paper Space` (type: PS) to avoid any other change by moving the drawing ... and plot it !!!!
You have your drawing scaled.
Hope this will help you, i do not know if everybody is using this way to scale a drawing but it works fine.
See u !! ;)

What I find easier is this (ACAD2002):
In the layout tab insert a viewport (if there isn't one already) after selecting the right paper size, print settings etc.
Than right click on the viewport (the line on the side). Hit properties. Than set the scale you want, you can lock the viewport afterwards to avoid rescaling by accident...
