I was wondering if there was a way to put objects or groups on top of other objects? Not just the lines, but the entire group of lines. What I am trying to do is draw railings on a house. I want these railings & balusters to appear to be in front of the rest of the house (windows, siding, etc.) I want the railings to completely hide the house behind them. Is there a way to do this without having to trim every line of the windows and siding?

It sort of depends what type of drawing you are creating. If this is a a 2D drawing, you are only dealing with lines, so there is nothing "inside" the railings that can hide what's behind them. Perhaps you could try using a solid hatch. If this is a 3D drawing, there are lots of options, including using the "hidden" shade option.

could try thick PLINES or LineWeightThicknesses.

i guess it all depends on the look you are after.
