truant
Hello, I have created a a 3d model using a 2d poly line object, then extruding it with a 10 ft depth. I want to view it in an isometric viewport, but its hard to understand because the background lines are shown. Is it possible to covert this wire frame to a solid 3d block? Thanks. ReMark
Shademode has to be set to Conceptual or Realistic. May also be referred to as Visual Styles.
truant
Thanks! had no idea it would have been that easy.
ReMark
I'm sure you would have figured it out all on your own. However, when stumbling through the dark it doesn't hurt to accept the offer of a flashlight (or a "torch" if you're from the other side of the pond). Glad to be a some small assistance. truant
instead of making a new thread, ill ask it here. when extruding a rectangle, to say... make a wall. how do you create a hole, such as a square window, or door, in that object? If this is getting to deep in 3d modeling, then just ignore it, haha
ReMark
It must be "tack on a question to a thread day". LOL Imagine you draw two rectangles. One for the door and one for the window. Extrude both then subtract the window from the door and presto-chango you have a door with a rectangular hole in it. How's that?
truant
how is the subtract done? I havn't tried yet, autocad just crashed, does autocad autmaticly know im trying to subtract when i have a 3d object in another 3d object? ReMark
No AutoCAD doesn't know. AutoCAD provides the tools; you provide the brains. Peaceful coexistence. Modify > Solid Editing > Subtract. Or work off the Solid Editing Toolbar (Union, Subtract, Intersect). Does AC 2006 have the Dashboard (I've forgotten). If so, it would be on there too. ReMark
Good luck truant. If you have any further questions it's probably best to post to a new thread. Catch you on the flip side. Chaio.
