hello.. new member here :).
Trying to learn autodesk Inventor 5 and going step by step in the build in tutorial, no problems but when it want me to use the hole tool it ask to input diameter size 6mm (through all) it wont let me, the size part of the hole tool menu is grayed outed default to 3mm size. any idea?

I've hardly played with Inventor but I had the same problem when I was doing the same part of the tutorial.
I've just had another look at it. To edit the size of the hole click on the dimension in the dimensioned sketch at the right of the small window when using the holes tool - you can then change the size of the hole diameter from there.
The normal approach, which you and I both took, would be to go to the Size tab to change the hole diameter, but, as you found out, it's greyed out - baffling! This is the place you would expect to change the hole diameter from!!
It's not very intuitive in this respect.

yes i change the hole size in edit dim too. but something just aint right?must some setup menu am missing?

Is there 'system variables' like in acad, hidden away in the help index ????

Just found out what problem was, with the hole menu, come to find out from autodesk site .. you need microsoft excel program installed for the hole menu to become active, and it's all about taped holes,threads,size. if you dont check the tapped offer it all still stays greyed out and it remember the last size input
