Hello All,

I'm learning to use AutoCAD whilst at university, but want a copy for my home PC as well (so I don't have to trudge into Uni to do my work).

I keep seeing reference to a student edition of AutoCAD, which is fairly cheap compared to the normal version (ok, a LOT cheaper! )

What I want to know is, what is the difference between the student edition and the proper liscenced version? I assume there are some features missing from the student version, hence the cheaper price.

And what version of AutoCAD is it? Is it 2002? (That's what the Uni has installed on its computers)

Cheers
Richard

There is indeed a student edition of AutoCAD. The good news is that it is a FULL version of the software - nothing is taken out and it's version 2002. The bad news is that it has a 2 year time bomb (you can only use it for 2 years). Also, there is a relatively low key overprint when printing.

You can get it from a number of suppliers but I recommend www.pugh.co.uk. The specific link is: www.pugh.co.uk/studentsandstaff/AutoDesk%20Student%20Licence.htm and the cost is £118 including VAT and postage.

Ok CADTutor (erm, don't know ur real name!).

Sounds good, I'll probably buy it. My course only has another two years left anyway (almost to the day!) so the two-year limit shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks
Richard

I don't understand what you mean by this - can you explain? Cheers.

It has a water-mark around the sides of your print that says "student Edition" or something.
