I found this website with pretty cheap Autodesk software

www.cadretails.com

I was wondering which one to go for, AutoCAD 2005 or AutoCAD 2006

I am currently using AutoCAD 2004 which i bought from the same company, is the 2006 a big leap for me?

Please let me know, thank you all in advance

Me too. I recommend that you do not buy AutoCAD from this site.

Many dealers are offering discounts on AutoCAD 2006 but nothing like this. In the past, dealers have been unable to offer discounts on AutoCAD but that seems to have changed. In any case, you should always make sure that you purchase AutoCAD through an "Autodesk Authorised Dealer". You should see a logo to that effect on their website. I don't see it on the cadretails website.

Yeah, $1,500 for AutoCAD 2006!!?? No way. That would be nice but there isn't anyone selling it for that. Sorry but I smell "Warez". Let's see how long they stay up  I reported their site to AutoDesk's piracy division. Pirated software only makes us pay more for it :reallymad:

I have no problem with a college kid or whatever having a cracked copy of something on their home PC to learn on but selling it is where I draw the line. This is where us legal uses get screwed.

I see a small graphic that says autodesk authorized dealer on it now... But I don't know if it is the official one or not, I've never personally bought Autocad, my work has always bought it. :)

edit: The price has also jumped to $2700 so I'm completely confused!

My bad, I was looking at r2005 not 2006  but you still cannot get 2005 for that price.

The site still shows 2006 being offered at half price. Either this is a typo or...

In fact, all Autodesk products appear to be half price. I find that difficult to believe.

Also, let's face it, reputable dealers do not post adverts on forums like ours.

Do you think they care? I often sent them various reports but without any echo :(

Wow! prices are really tumbling (http://www.svdsoft.com/3dcad.htm).

How seriously do Autodesk take piracy? I found this link on a Google AdWord. You'd have thought the software giants would be on these people like a ton of bricks.

If you'd like to report a piracy issue to Autodesk, you can do so here (http://www.autodesk.com/piracy). Notice though, that the page refers to unlicenced use and not unauthorised sale of Autodesk software. Does that mean it's OK to sell the media but illegal to use the software? I suspect that it does. Buyer beware!
