Multiple XREF in one drawing not opening.

Hi,

Problem: -

I have got a drawing with 800+ XREF's (Each representing a 2mx2m

square), (Can't post due to copyright) and when I try to open it in

ACAD 2008 it crashes, however i've been told when it was opened in

ACAD 2006 that there was no problem.

Solutions Tried:

Audit

Explode (Won't work)

Refedit

Changin xref folder name, tellin ACAD the new location - reloading 1

by 1, no problem untill i close drawing and then computer crashes

(Again)

Bind as both an overlay AND tried as insert still no luck!

any ideas?
