johnshar123xx Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 AutoCAD 2008 The following are questions that I am finding very difficult to find the answers to. If anyone can help me in finding these answers it would be greatly appreciated. For the most part these questions consist of asking how to turn off certain annoying features of Autocad. In not being experienced with using LISP scripts, I would preffer answers that don't pertain to LISP. In realizing that the answers to my questions are not common, I will definitely take answers consisting of LISP scripts as well. Questions..... 1.) Raster Image Draw Order Problem a. insert raster image into a autocad dwg b. trace over that image with autocad lines, text, etc. c. save the drawing d. re-open the drawing When the drawing is re-opened, the raster image automatically moves to the top of the drawing order, covering all my autocad linework. Then you have to regen the drawing in order to fix the problem. I have messed around with the DRAWORDER command as well as setting the image to transparent, but no success. Does anyone know how to make the raster image always stay in the back? 2.) At work we have numerous drawings that when you open them, them automatically open up a window titled "SELECT SHAPE FILE" which is asking you to find a .SHX shape file. We do not have the shape files, so everytime you open up a drawing you receive about two or three of these messages. This causes me to have to cancel these in order to move on and open the drawing. Does anyone know how to stop autocad from opening up this message window completely? I thank everyone for taking the time to read my questions, and putting the effort to possibly answering them. smorales02 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Not sure about #1, but #2 does it happen at every station or just at certain ones? And is it always the same shape file that it is asking you to open? Quote
rkent Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 #2 Purge should do the trick. See http://rkmcswain.blogspot.com/search?q=shape bottom of the page. Quote
eldon Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Have you created a separate layer for the Raster Image, and then in the Draw Order, send that layer to the back. That works for me Quote
johnshar123xx Posted December 1, 2009 Author Posted December 1, 2009 Hey guys, thank you again for taking the time to help me answer my questions, it is appreciated. I usually reply with a thank you but I never think people who answer my questions ever come back to see the thank you, which I apologize for. Quote
MRAKA Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I have had this problem (#1) for many years working with raster images and always have to keep setting the raster to back. Try the command "cdorder", this stops this from happening (most of the time). Always, to lessen the pain of having to go the drop down menus and send it back, try making a button, it makes it faster & easier to send your iamges to back, do a regen too! Andrew Quote
Tallguy Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Been trying to sort this annoying raster issue for some time now, tried the cdorder and other similar things, keeps on jumping to front! Aaarrghhh... Quote

MikeScott Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Hey guys, thank you again for taking the time to help me answer my questions, it is appreciated. I usually reply with a thank you but I never think people who answer my questions ever come back to see the thank you, which I apologize for. I didn't help (I had nothing to offer on this) but for the record..., A thanks always goes a long way in making the effort worth it. Speaking for a few of us at least, we always see them, and you're always welcome, some of us just don't tend to bump a sucessfully finished thread to say so. If you weren't welcome to the advise, we wouldn't offer it (unless you coerced us!) At least that's my take on it. Quote
