I installed 2006 at work today. It converted my "profile". All my command buttons and where they were.
One of the windows that shows up initially had something to do with profiles. I was playing around with different features and somehow clicked a button that set the AutoCAD standard toolbars. There was no way to undo what I had done that I could see. Now my profile that was originally converted from 2005 to 2006 is nowhere to be found.
Any way to retrieve it other than reinstall the program? :reallymad:

Oh, and it installed the Express menu (or so it said in the installation process ) and I cannot find it.

I just installed 2006 Mechanical. The menu customization structure is vastly different from previous versions. I don't bother with profiles so I can't help you there. 2006 has custom workspaces, maybe your profile was set to another workspace.

I installed the express menu and have it loaded. When in the 'Customize User Interface' box...look under 'partial CUI files'.

I had a heck of a time trying to learn the new Menu customization stuff...and with both standard AutoCAD and Mechanical menus, it was really getting on my nerves until I wrapped my head around it.

It seems as though the new system will be very flexible...HOwever, I think it's overly complicated.

As far as my "workspace", there are 4 listed and all of them are exactly the same, even though one says 2005, and one says Eric, they all load the same as AutoCAD standard.
Looking under partial CUI files, all I have is Custom. And under custom, there is nothing referring to the express menu/tools. Do I need to do something else to initialize the Express tools?
I mean during installation there was a check box that was specific to installing Express tools. Why did that not work?

I sure hope that when I start to understand how this new 2006 is put together it is worth it. Because now it is a flat out waste of my time.

THAT IS JUST TOO EASY TO BE NECESSARY :x

My office mate was playing around on his 2006, typed EXPRESSTOOLS and hit enter. THERE THEY WERE. Honestly, what is the point. :?:

:glare:

Sorry for all the ranting. I just get passionate at times.

All MY problems aside, I really like some of the new features of 2006. Can you tell. :P
