They changed the stretch command in 2006. :x

If you select a whole object with a window it moves rather than stretches...that's still the same. What's different is that if you select objects individually and then window them...they move...even if you only windowed some of the vertexes.

I really don't like this. Quite often, I have closed P-line shapes butting up against one another. I would select one, then window the vertexes that I wanted to stretch. Now if I do that...it moves the whole thing. If I crossing window the vertexes from the start, any adjoining objects stretch as well...which is not what I want.

Does anyone know if this command can be reverted to how it used to be?

I am now using Autocad 2006 and have not found anything different about the stretch command.
As long as I use a "crossing" to select the object then it stretches OK. If I "window" the object fully, then the object will move.
Hope this helps a bit. :)

Yes, but let's say that you want to stretch an object that is touching or on top of other objects. We used to be able to pick the target object and then window select the parts that we wanted to stretch. Now if we do that...it moves. And if we use the crossing window, all of the objects are selected and stretched.

I have found a way...but I'm still not happy about it. If I use the crossing window to select the object (at the area I want to stretch), I can then hold the shift key and unselect the other objects...leaving just the target object to be stretched. Pain in the butt though.

I am having issues with this too. :x

I often need to stretch part of a group, but need to leave the the items outside the selection box where they were originaly.

In Autocad LT 2002 you can do this, but not in Autocad LT 2006.

An easy way to simulate this is to draw two boxes next to each other i.e. one on the left, one on the right, group them together and stretch only one of them with a crossing window, the box outside of the crossing window moves by the amount you stretch the first by.

Really anoying alteration, which I have not found a way around yet. I am having to resort to using Autocad LT 2002 again, and 2006 just to convert backwards to 2000 dwg.

The other way to deselect items is to type in "re" for remove. then you can select anything that you want to deselect without holding down the shift key.

Trouble is, when it's a group you de-select everything including the item you want to stretch.

Anyone got any ideas on this? I've had to revert back to using LT 2002 to get around this problem, but I don't want it to be a perminant thing.

I know this is really cheaky  , but does anyone have Autodesk support who wouldn't mind contacting them about it.

I have now been upgraded to 2007 LT and no longer have this issue. :)
