View Full Version : 'Invalid' Xrefs when Binding

When binding plot dwgs for archiving I find that I can bind most Xrefs, however a couple of these Xrefs are corrupt and will not bind, only to give me an '*Invalid*' explanation in the comand line.

I have purged and purged, saved as a new name, exploded parts of the dwg and none of these techniques seem to work.

One thing I have noticed is the dwgs which have problems binding have a block named '*E' at the top of their block list and the dwgs which bind with no problem don't have this block listed.

Anyone had this problem? Better still, can you fix it? Love to hear from someone.
Cheers

Well, "*E" is actually an invalid block name as far as AutoCAD is concerned. If you try to make a block with this name, you will find that you can't.

This is likely to be the cause of the problem. Since you've purged, this block must be referenced somewhere. You could find out what the block is by inserting it within one of the drawings. Maybe you could then work out if you need the block or if you can get rid of it.

Were these drawings originated in AutoCAD or were they converted from another application?
