billharpo Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I have a 3d Surface file of a boat hull sent to me by the boat manufacturer. It was created in some other program and sent to me in IGES format. It imported into Autocad Mechanical 2007 as a group of polyface meshes. I need to create a lofting; a cross section at every 3 feet. I can draw in paralell intersecting flat rules surfaces every 3 feet, and view the resulting intersections, but I cant figure out how to create an entity at the intersection that I can use to create my lofting. Can anyone offer me any suggestions? I'm still kind stuck in 2D land and here. Quote

Why did you use flat rules surfaces every 3 feet? You must need to cross section(2d polyline) instead of surface. Quote
billharpo Posted November 4, 2008 Author Posted November 4, 2008 Yes, that's waht a lofting is It's a cross-section of the surface of the hull at regurlar intervals. Quote
