hotrodz0321 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 1.) to find the value for DIMSCALE...just type DIMSCALE and it will show you what it is currently set at. 2.)drawing limits are user defined....you set up the drawing limits according to the scale you will be plotting to.... instructors still teach their students to set up using limits, but doing it that way is outdated....there are tutorials out there that will further instruct you on what the DIMSCALE variable can be used for...or use the Autocad help menu..... rkent Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 1) To know what value to set for DIMSCALE one must know the eventual plot scale of the drawing, lets say you are drawing a floor plan and it will be plotted to scale at 1/4"=1'-0". The DIMSCALE would be 48 and one determines that by knowing how many 1/4" are in a foot, or 12 / .25 = 48. 1/2" = 1'-0" = DIMSCALE of 24, 3/16"=1'-0" = DIMSCALE of 12 / 3/16 = 12 / .1875 = DIMSCALE of 64. 2) To find the limits simply type LIMITS and hit enter twice, the first value is the lower left, the second is the upper right.
