Hi,

I have a CAD drawing created by other people. The issue I am having here is that everytime i want to add a text or box, they were not straightened. They were at an angle. Then, i have to rotate the texts so that they are straight, not at any angle. I think this may be to do with XY coordinates. However, instead of stuffing up the XY coordinate of the drawing, is there any way of setting up the right XY coordinate so that all the added texts are straightened. And when it's all done, the original settings can be restored.

I am using AutoCAD 2005 LT.

Thank you for your help

2 possibilities.

one is 'snapang' value is set to something other than '0'

another is that they have used ucs & rotated a drawing using ucs.

In that case. save the current ucs with name & than use 'uc' comman dto restore the world ucs & when you finish working that the previous ucs as current.

Sounds like someone forgot to enable "ortho". There has to be at least one line somewhere on the drawing that is truely horizontal (maybe in the title block or border). You can use SNAPANG to reset the cross hairs exactly and then reset them back to the original angle when done. Draw a "reference line" prior to using SNAPANG for the first time that equates to this not-quite-horizontal setting someone else used in the drawing.
