I will often create a block from text (a chart or something) in one scale, but it needs to be applied to different scaled drawings, so I scale the block. But my text formatting gets butchered when I scale the block. I believe it's because the Mtext editor ruler remains the original scale, so one tab marker is smaller. I've attached two images of the same block, scaled up, one is while editing the block, the other is as the block is set in the drawing. I hope this makes sense.

the question is: is there any way for that ruler to scale with the block?

i doubt that the ruler could be scaled with the block

its an mtext issue...couldnt you explode the text to create single line text just before making it a block (assuming you didnt need the mtext functionality from that point on)....that should lose the problem you are having with the ruler

i just tried it with success
