Lock a element?

hello everybody, here i am with another question for all this community of cad workers , a collegue here came to me asking if there is a chance of locking a single element. The issue is that he wants to block some objects inside a layer instead of having to create a new blocked layer to those objects.

Off hand I cannot think of a way to lock a single object in AutoCAD while the remaining objects on the same layer wouldn't be locked.
