hi..

intellikorea has come with a CAD software that behaves almost same as AutoCAD. most of the commands are similar to AutoCAD. Interface is not as effective as AutoCAD.

importantly!! its much economical than AutoCAD.

try this here

http://www.cadian.com/english/download/value.asp

is there anybody using CAdian?? hows it??

It seems to be IntelliCAD. IntelliCAD has been around a while and it is as close to AutoCAD as one can get. It has been called an AutoCAD clone as well. It is close but not 100% there. I have played with an earlier version and I was able to jump in pretty quickly. A good choice for people looking for CAD on a budget.

Agreed. The Intellicad source code is open source and it has been used by a number of developers to create their own flavour of the product. It was originally conceived as an AutoCAD clone and it can even run AutoLISP routines. I haven't looked at any recent versions so I don't know how well it's keeping up but it is a good option for those on a budget.

See:

CADopia (http://www.cadopia.com/)

IntelliDESK (http://www.cad-europe.com)

ProgeSOFT (http://www.progesoft.com)

bricscad (http://www.bricscad.com)

and of course

intellicad.org (http://www.intellicad.org)

I down loaded the demo so I'll have a play around with it. It might be a good package.

Did you know that BricsCAD is working on a Linux version? Might be worth a look. I am about to try Linux again at home on a spare box I have. We'll see what happens ;)

Forgive me for jumping in but I was directed here from another thread. I am a general contractor and I do a lot of back and forth in the field with architects, engineers, and general designers that use the CAD system. Will this work for me for field use either reading or editing actual drawings that are sent to me by whoever the architect is I'm dealing with at the time?

It really should, it is about a 95% clone of AutoCAD at a 10% of the price. Download the demo and give it a try.

What is the major difference between this a autocad. My father always told me you get what you pay for so it seems only natural that something should be missing.
BTW...has anybody tried General Cadd?

It missing some of the more advanced and custom features of AutoCAD. But..I would say that it is very worth the $$.
General CADD?? Can't say that I have.

It would also seem that the only way to purchase this product is thru the French company that makes it. Has anyone else in here purchased this program? And if so how did you like it? What was the service like dealing with an overseas company?

Look at the list above by CAD Tutor. There are several there and a few are U.S. based IIRC.

OK I'm confused. Since I don't purchase CADD type programs on a regular basis I have no clue as to what is what. Is Intellicad the same as Intellidesk only a US based version or a completely different software package? And there is a list of about 20 different versions. How would I even know which one I need. I know this must be quite fustrating for high end users of these programs. Just think how we un-educated newbies feel trying to decide what we need.

yes it is. As CAD Tutor said it is a tpe of open source technology sold by intellicad. Companies buy it and re-sell it as "their version". http://www.intellicad.com/ is the home site. Here is a list of companies selling versions of intelliCAD - http://www.intellicad.com/members/memberlist.asp#commercial . I would assume that there are only small differences between the different versions. Yes, software purchases can be over whelming. I usually download a demo and give it a spin. Having used CAD for so long I can usually tell in the first 10 minutes if a product has merit. I give intelliCAD a good rating. Really close to AutoCAD.

Thanks. Normally I don't like to clog my system up with demos but in this case I think it would be a good idea to make an exception.

I downloaded the 20 demo for intellidesk but have not loaded it up yet. Is there an english demo version of intellicad available for download?

Have a look at the link I posted above....

http://www.intellicad.com/members/memberlist.asp#commercial

It list all the companies that sell a version of IntelliCAD. They all have demos.

Try the AutoDsys version....http://www.autodsys.com .

OK!
I've downloaded the english demo version of Intellicad 5.1.
Before I load it up I need to know, can I only load it on one of my computers? I have an home computer and a privately owned work computer. If I can only do one I would prefer it be my work computer.
Does this program allow you to load up on more than one?
What about if I buy the full version, will I be able to load that up both my systems?

Limited demo versions can be loaded on any number of PCs. Once you purchase a licence, that entitles you to run the full application on a single PC only, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
