White Tiger Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I have recently moved up to C3D2009. I have a drawing with standard layers from old templates. I created a new layer by 'New Layer VP Frozen in all viewports', and can not change any properties of this layer. When (in Model Space) I click on the snowflake in the 'New VP Freeze' column, it momentarily goes to a sun, and then back. Similarly I can not change the Layer's colour, or anything else. It makes no difference whether I am in Model Space, Paper Space with the viewport open, paper space with the viewport not open, or whether or not there are any objects on the layer. Is this a bug?? Struggling here..... Quote

White Tiger Posted November 20, 2008 Author Posted November 20, 2008 No - it is not the active layer - though it makes no difference. I can make it and 'unmake' it the active layer. No - it is not locked.... Quote

No offence intended. I just wanted to make sure that the basics werent overlooked. I think we all do this at some stage. I also thought it may be specific to your version of CAD. Since my workload isnt too bust ill have a look and report back in 10. Quote
wannabe Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Infact I cannot recreate that scenario in CAD 2007. I bet someone else will be able to on here. Great site, this. Quote
BOB'27T Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Try opening the drawing using a template in '09. I've had some issues with older drawings being opened in '09 C3D. Quote
White Tiger Posted November 20, 2008 Author Posted November 20, 2008 Hi, Hmmmmm...not worked by opening the dwg from Civil 3D as AutoCAD2009...No idea why. Perhaps I'm better to create a new drawing and copy in those bits that are OK... Thanks for looking. Quote
White Tiger Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 Just been looking further at this (well perhaps not just - more like several hours) & even by cutting items and pasting them into new base drawings with O layer only, I can not change the propoerties of those layers that come in. However, on ebreak through (only for interest though) is that it only appears to happen on layers with hatching. It also appears to make little difference whether the hatch is associative or not. As far as I see therefore there is a bug or something.... Quote
White Tiger Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 Just so you now know....... I have been in the habitat of labelling layers which are composed solely of hatchings, with a # symbol. It is OK to use this - and I have never had any problem with it before - but if one uses it in C3D2009 all the above occurs! Bizarre! Quote
