fester225 Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 AutoCAD LT 2002, XP I have 2 files which AutoCad won't open. It gives an error message which says I should try using the RECOVER utility. RECOVER doesn't work. The damaged file is 130Kb, so there must be something in it. What other ways can I use to retrieve a damaged AutoCAD LT 2002 file? Quote
nocturne00 Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Does it have a .bak file? try to look on the same folder where the file is saved and if you see the *.bak file, change .bak to .dwg Quote
Cad64 Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 I don't know if 2002LT has this option, and it may or may not work for this file, but you could try a Partial Open. Quote
fester225 Posted November 23, 2008 Author Posted November 23, 2008 Thanks for your responses! There are no .bak files available for these files. LT does not have the Partial Open function available. Quote

Fester, first, welcome to the forums! If the file is not intellectual property perhaps you might attach the *.dwg file to the post. Someone might open and save the file for you (and email or post it in the forums for your use). Quote

Please find the file attached. parts.dwg Quote
Cad64 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I ran a RECOVER in Autocad 2007 and it repaired the file. It doesn't look like much though, just a bunch of dimensions mostly and some random pieces of geometry. Attached is the file, saved in 2000 format, and a copy of the Recovery report. parts.dwg Recovery Report.txt Quote

Looks like, lets hope, a work in progress. Let's see what Fester does with this file? Start over? Quote
