daddu04287 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I'm using Autodesk 2002 Land Desktop Development. This following problem doesn't occur in new projects or in projects where the data collection link has only been opened a few times. When I try to open the data collection link (after several successful openings) Autocad stops responding and the computer locks up and has to be turned off. A new problem has come up (don't know if it's related) when I try to plot a drawing Autocad stops responding and the computer locks up. This new problem seemed to come along at the same time as a non-autocad problem hit me and not being an expert/computer savy user I havent been able to resolve this either; when my computer starts I get an unhandled exception, I believe it's searching for or trying to access a non-existent path. WHEW! Have you any words of wisdom? Quote
ReMark Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Post the exact error message you are receiving. Have you tried to resolve the path(s) yet? Quote
daddu04287 Posted November 25, 2008 Author Posted November 25, 2008 The error message at start up is "System.Data.OleDbException: 'C:\Program Files\dfjdkjfdkjfldif\dfjdkjfdkjfdkjfldjf\logs\Database.kdb' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides." and of course there is no error message when the system locks up, everything just freezes. daddu04287 Posted December 1, 2008 Author Posted December 1, 2008 I guess when AutoCAD "locks up" I am just S.O.L. Everyone's saying "doesn't happen on my computer" Quote
feargt Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 . A new problem has come up (don't know if it's related) when I try to plot a drawing Autocad stops responding and the computer locks up. We had a similar issue here in my office with 1 or 2 users when trying to plot. We resolved the problem. The printers available to us for use are located on our server, but there are lots of printers available to us that we do not use. We removed all the excess printers that we don't need or use and that solved our problem. Quote

daddu04287 Posted January 23, 2009 Author Posted January 23, 2009 I thought I had it fixed when I removed an unused fax. It worked fine for a while and now it's back to freezing up. I restored my computer to an earlier point but that didn't help. Any other suggestions? Quote
ReMark Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Almost two months to the day we first heard from you. Same problem though. Possible pathing problem? Are paths "absolute" or "relative"? Quote
daddu04287 Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 You're talking way above my knowledge base. I didn't even know there were absolute or relative paths. Quote
ReMark Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Maybe the program is having a difficult time finding the file you want to print. Have you tried copying the drawing to your hard drive and printing from there? What happens? Quote
ReMark Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Are you still getting this error message? "Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides." Quote
daddu04287 Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 The dwg is on my hard drive and yes, I'm still getting the error message whenever I restart my computer. Quote
ReMark Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Have you loaded all patches for your OS? Have you installed all service packs? Quote
