Hi there,

I'm very new to 3D Modelling etc so please excuse my ignorance, but this problem is strating to break my heart!!!

I've triangulated a certain area within AutoCad Map 5 so that -

the ground consists of 3dfaces.
the roofs (flat, ridge etc ) consist of 3dfaces.
the walls consist of 3dfaces (4 sided) and drop to intesect the ground.

So now i'd like to drape an ortho of the area unto these faces for rendering purposes.

Can anyone put me out of my misery .... please.
I'm limited to Map5 and 3dStudio Max.

Thanks,

Keifer

I'm not sure what you mean by "drape an ortho". Can you give more details?

Hi there,

Just drape an image of the city (*.tif) on top of the 3dfaces.

OK, I understand.

The first point is that you will need to create a material from your image and then apply that image to your objects. See this link (http://www.cadtutor.net/acad/acad2ki/bitmat/bitmat.html#Create).

Second point is that the model will only look the way you want if the material is draped over the whole model area and not the individual objects. This can work if you apply the material to all 3D objects in the drawing and then play about with the image scale and offset until you get a match between objects and image. A bit fiddly but it could be done.
