Question about transmittals with images

I've got a question about how everybody sends out drawings containing raster images to clients. Today I tried to use etransmit for the drawing and image, but the zip file was 20 megs. Needless to say, I couldn't email it. I sent only the linework and had to send the image as a bmp image. Also, when I originally sent the drawing as a dwg, the image path was lost. Is there an easier way to do this? Hope my nonsense rambling makes a little bit of sense!

Bob:

Don't know if this makes sense but, here's how I do it.

My drawings are small, might make a difference.

I open the image in i.e.: M$ Paint, save as a *.bmp.

Leave M$ Paint open with the desired image on screen. Minimize M$ Paint.

In the *.dwg file, 'INSERTOBJ' (insert object).

Insert from file, browse to the image (which is still open), select the image which of course is open.

Don't know if I worded it all correctly but, if I do so, I can check the image manager, no images attached. The image however is in the *.dwg file. No need to send as a separate file! The image is there.

Any of this make sense?

And of course, I 'PURGE' the file to minimize the size (bytes).

Yep it sure does! My boss actually recommended that we use that also. Thanks for the input!

Why not convert the bmps to jpeg format, it will reduce the file size.
