View Full Version : How to animate in 3DS Max 7?

At my previous job I used 3D Studio Max 3 for simple animations. Now I installed 3DS Max 7. I don’t intend to buy it but please keep this confidential.
In the old version there was a big button labeled ANIMATE. Using that button was the simplest way for creating non pretentious animations.
In the new version I can not find that button. Maybe this animation method is no longer supported? Or just I can not find the button?
Please help, only 27 days left to play. Thank you.

I have this tutorial (http://www.cadtutor.net/dd/studio/walkm5/walkm5.html) based on MAX 5. I don't think it has changed too much in 7. It's basically a path animation tutorial. Not sure if that's what you need.

I just read this post (only joined last week) so i hope it still might help
"button labeled ANIMATE they done away with that button on Max 6 and replaced it with auto key and set key , what to do is throw in the model you want then move it and if u select autokey then it will create a time key for you (the autokey is at the bottom right hand side of the screen. not sure if you still have max but if you do then this should help . if not give me a shout as i am into Max aninations so i might be able to further assist.

Thank you Deelay!
I plan to change my computer so I will keep in my mind your advice for a new ... trial period.
So, this is the same thing; I remember the times when an old button was renamed "soft selection". I needed a whole day to find it.
Well, I guess this happends when a software is used ocasionally.
