masheen Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 I have posted on this issue previously but even though I had lots of help (see here: http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?p=179160#post179160) I wasn't able to plot to a raster file. I have given up on trying to do what - in theory - I should be able to do and was wondering if anyone knows of any software that would allow me to create a pdf or large jpeg from a .dwg file that allows our customers to zoom in and see the details/dimensions without a loss of clarity? Any help would be welcome Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 If you don't want a loss of clarity when zooming in and it absolutely *must* be rasterized you will need to print it on the largest "paper" allowed. This will lead to larger filesizes. Is there a big problem with the .dwf output? The viewer is available free from Autodesk and its a vector output, so zooming isn't an issue. I typically will just include the viewer link as a post script to any message in which I've attached a .dwf. This way if the email is forwarded the link for the viewer is always right there with it. masheen Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 Thanks for the response guys skipsophrenic: I have just tried CutePDF and yes it does the job except that it dosnt render hatching very well - if the area to be hatched is square to the screen then its fine but for a sofa that has been hatched and then rotated 45 degrees then the hatching looks shoddy it may be the solution...i have yet to try HSCadView...that also looks promising MaxwellEdison: In an ideal world I would use viewing software as you suggest but our clients are not so pc literate and need access to a simple jpeg type file - the drawings also have to be attached to ACT! within our company network so other members of staff can quickly view them while on a phone to a client for example. To you and me the use of a viewer or CAD itself isnt rocket science but I have to make sure everyone can use the files here so... I will keep on searching as I have spent another late night trying to simply print to file in CAD following various help file topics but without success Anyone else have any ideas?! Quote
masheen Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 Well i seemed to have solved the problem for now....i have downloaded the free version of ANYDWG and so far its knocking out good quality jpegs *phew* im still open to suggestion though if anyone knows of some good software (HSCadView seems to be the best but when you download the free trial it only gives you the option to buy or extend the trial period(!) which requires registration, which dosnt work anyway due to errors on page!!!)
