text in idw doesn't move with my viewport

Hi all,

I've an idw in which I have added text (using the drawing annotation panel). But when I move my "viewport", the text doesn't move along and I have to put everything back into place. Is there a way to avoid this?

Using the Text tool on the Annotation Panel, you add text to the drawing. This text is not fixed to the page.

I can't seem to recreate this. Can you post a picture?

Yes, I use the text-icon from the Drawing Annotation Panel and then I just start writing on my idw. But I think I should click on my view first (I tried but it doesn't work) so my text moves as I move my view. Rightnow my text is just floating somewhere and it isn't attached to anything: when I drag my view, my text stays where it is. Maybe I've to use another panel? And if so which one?

This has me firmly stumped. I have no idea what to tell you.

click on the viewport so that the boundary highlights red. Don't move the mouse - hit S on the keyboard to start a sketch within the view. Enter your text and then click Return. Your sketch text will move with the view.

Another option for frequently used stuff is to create a Sketched Symbol. When creating a Sketched Symbol a couple of new tools will be available while in sketch mode - in the upper right corner of the screen will be a Center Point drop down that includes Connection Point Grip and Set Insertion Point Grip.

Select the view that you wish the text to be associated to.

Select the LEADER TEXT tool.

Create your text.

RMB the leader and turn visibility off.

The best part of using the leader text is that you can use the leader to "attach" the text to another annotation and then moving the other annotation will move the leader text as well. Just select a node of the annotation when selecting the end point for your leader.
