Iv'e been sorting standard drawing templates as the existing ones are non existent for our section of the company. The new templates consist of seperate A0,A1 etc borders, with my page setup details configured for each(eg plotter and pen settings). They also have preconfigured frozen viewports.I'm trying to find other things that I can preconfigure that are constantly used to speed my work up.I've also noticed that if I set up a seperate drawing with all the layers, dim styles and linetypes etc I can add them to my drawing via the design center. How do any of you other CAD engineers, work when producing drawings.Do you use a preconfigured drawing with all the settings that maybe needed then purge out any unused parts after or attain your templates, layers, linetypes etc seperately through the design center.Any suggestions would be great thanks

i use a standard template on all my drawings. it consits of all page sizes that we use, some system variables, etc.. that make life easier, all text styles that will be needed at various scales and all dimension styles at various scales

Yes, i have a template for every area of our work.
eg,
events, exhibitions, custom display, manufacturing all have their own template with layers, linetypes, plotstyles to suit the type of drafting i happen to be doing.
i even go to the extent, if its a big job, and i know im going to do a number of drawings, i set up a template iwth the clients logo and titles on a template, saves inserting as a block everytime.
when i was using autocad for rendering, i had a template with materials, lights and layers, set up so i could save time not fussing on these settings
each time i was designing a display stand.

I use a master template with everything set, and just purge what wasn't used when the job is complete to reduce the file size. This template includes standard layers with set linetypes and colors, text, dimension, and several other standard layers. I have different dimension styles for the different scales. Everything is drawn in model space; text, dimensions, and borders are in paper space. The different printers and plotters are set up, and so are the plot styles. It also has many system variables already set up. I have my .dwt, profile, and my lisp routines in a seperate folder than in the ACAD directory. This way, if I have to reinstall ACAD for whatever reason, I can easily add my folder to the drawing template directory and the support directory, import my profile, and the down time is reduced.

I think the PURGE command is not pushed enough.
It makes a huge difference to storage on your hard drive.
If you have a large company server for storage, like i do, you generally dont worry about it.
I have a block called "standard". it is a drawing with nothing in it.
so if i have to make changes to an old drawing, or if i use an old drawing as the base for a new drawing, i insert "standard" into the drawing and all of my layers and formats come back.
Hope this may help someone.
