Trisha Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Can someone please tell me the basic info on how to scale correct in autocad.. I don`t understand it:oops: Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Try this paper space tutorial. And always make sure to draw full scale in model space. Quote
A1DWG Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Do you mean scaling objects? working to scale? setting viewports to scale? Quote
rkmcswain Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Here is another paper space (layout) tutorial if what you need is help with scaling the drawing before printing. http://cadpanacea.com/node/125 (part 1) http://cadpanacea.com/node/126 (part 2) Quote
Trisha Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 I have a drawing with scale 1:25. I f I want to make a cut in this drawing to make a detail-drawing, will this detail be in the same scale? I also need to find the area on parts of the drawing, but when I use the area tool the area becomes way to big. Am I doing something wrong? Quote
ReMark Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 That's the benefit to drawing everything full size in model space then switching to your layout, adding a viewport or two or more, then "scaling" the viewports. The viewports in your layouts can all have different scales but the objects in model space stay untouched. They do not have to be scaled up or down as the case may be. Quote
smorales02 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 So in modelspace, your drawing is actually drawn at 1:25? Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 No. Model space is FULL SCALE. 1:1. In paperspace, create your viewport and set ITS scale to 1:25. Quote
Lazer Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Have a look at the bottom of the page you will find Similar Threads to the question you are asking. Quote
smorales02 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 No. Model space is FULL SCALE. 1:1. In paperspace, create your viewport and set ITS scale to 1:25. I know, I was asking the OP if that is how his is set up Quote
CADguy209 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 FYI: When people are saying you scale the viewport and or inside the viewport you are not actually scaling the objects in model space but rather setting the "viewing scale" to give the effect of the objects being scaled. So your geometry should measure what ever its supposed to be in real life (1:1) if you were to go inside the different viewports and take a measurment. Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Sorry smorales, I just glanced at the reply and thought it was from the OP. Mea culpa. Quote
smorales02 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Its ok, I figured thats what you did, happens to me alot. WOnder if the OP ever got this situated Quote
