PDF plots not coming out crisp looking

Hi,

Most of my work involves creating PDF drawing files and emailing those to clients.

I'm on AutoCAD LT 2009.

Can anyone throw any light on why my PDF drawing exported from AutoCAD LT 2009 do not come out nice and crisp looking ??

For example text looks like the pen used is too thick, yet when I look at the *Plot* Preview before I create the PDF, the plot looks great - it seems as though the conversion to PDF is where the problem is.

I've tried different pen styles etc but nothing seems to fix it.

Any ideas ??

Thanks,

Jez

Okay,

I did 5 mins of research on Google, looked at the first PDF writer that's free and produces PDF's from within AutoCAD - called CutePDF.

Tried plotting using that 'printer' and immediately the problem is over.

It looks as though the native PDF writer within AutoCAD is not good enough??

And that's after I'd just bought my copy of LT 2009

I also noted that the files that CutePDF produces are a helluva lot smaller

I'm just hoping that PDF's produced using vanilla AutoCAD LT 2009 *are* capable of being small / crisp looking - I'm just hoping that it's something I'm not setting correctly (though I didn't do anything majical in CutePDF either).

Thanks for the update Jez. I have always used CutePDF and have found it to be reliable, giving good quality output and small files - even smaller than Acrobat with no obvious loss of quality.

I've been using CutePDF for several years now. It's the best free pdf writer I've found thus far. I do wish it would write the files even smaller, especially when you have images attached to your cad dwg.

CutePDF is an excellent, free program.

I don't use it anymore, using Adobe Pro. Excellent.

Both were excellent.

Thanks for the information - I've never heard of CutePDF (and the name sounds a bit dodgy also), but with all this feedback, I reckon its worth a try.

Cheers guys,
