KnoJa31 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Hey all, Our company standard is to have new callouts framed. However, i haven't been able to find a way to adjust the spacing between the text and the frame. Is there a variable that can be adjusted to fix this spacing issue? My other option was to create a block with a mutliline attribute contained within a frame and create a multileader stlye that has the block attached. But after some time i gave up on that idea. There is no real good way to do that method. I would have to create a dynamic block so that the frame could be manually edited. Which is out of the question since the company is going to strict standards. Any thoughts on the subject would be great!!! Quote
KnoJa31 Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 It is extremely to tight to the text. Quote
smorales02 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I just did a couple of QLEADERS and they seemed to all have the same spacing no matter how much was written...and all the frames were spaced enough around the text... Maybe its a multileader thing... Ill lokk alittle deeper tomorrow...going home for the day Quote
KnoJa31 Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 Thanks for looking! qleaders work great. But they want to use multileaders since multiple leaders can be added quickly and can be aligned. I will keep digging too. Quote
ammobake Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Hmm. I'm guessing you are not happy with the tiny spacing between the frame and the text (that's one reason I don't use the frame). I have to admit it is nice to be on my own as a one-man design team for my company because I'm able to set all the standards myself. I did mess with it a little. I thought maybe if you enter a space or two on each side of the text it might put the frame box where you want it.. The problem is that if you put, say, 2 spaces on each side of the default multileader text it will space it properly on the left but not on the right. The right side of the frame always wants to butt up against that last letter of the text regardless of how many spaces you insert. One way I was able to work around that is by doing this.. In your multileader style dialog box 1-make sure framed text is checked 2-under "default text", type in the text you want as your default 3-keeping the mtext ribbon open for your default text, enter in as many spaces as you need before your text.. For example if you wanted 3 spaces you would type in this.. Spacebar, spacebar, spacebar, "DEFAULT TEXT HERE" This needs to be configured properly though because all your text will have this same spacing from the frame box. Then, instead of typing in 3 spaces on the right of your default text (that doesn't work anyway) you will insert 3 "non-breaking-spaces". You will click to the right of your default text. Once you see the cursor directly to the right of the text, right click and select "insert symbol" and then "insert a non-breaking space". Technically, you could insert that symbol 3 or 4 times on each side of the text and it will evenly space the text within the framing box. For whatever reason, no matter how many times you hit the space bar on the right of the mline text (even if it is centered) it will not move over the framing box (which stinks) But on the left it will indent the text to the right just depending on how many spaces you put in. Hope this fixes your problem. There is probably an easier way of doing this.. This is just what i did to fix it and it worked. You would just have to make sure that when you edit that text for your callouts you first highlight the existing text only.. otherwise it will remove those spaces and your text will not be spaced right on the inside of that text box. I know it stinks but that's the only way i see around the problem right now. -ChriS Quote
