skeet monroe Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is a lisp, or just some kind of setting that I haven't found yet. I think it must be a lisp, but anyway...at work, CAD is set up so that when I edit text, I can change or make a fraction just by putting a ` before a number/letter. It also works with steel plate symbals, centerlines, etc, etc. An couple examples are: `4 would be a stacked 1/4, `8 would be a stacked 1/2, and `D is the symbal for a plate. This works just fine at work, but when I try to get anything done from home, all I get is a `4, `8, or a `D. So I know I don't have something at home that I do at work. So then I guess my question is, what could it be, and how might I get it work at home too? Thanks, Skeet Quote
lpseifert Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 It's kinda hard to tell without seeing the code, but are you using the same font file? Try copying the font file at work to home (replace after making a backup). Quote
skeet monroe Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 The font file I use at home isn't the same one I use at work, but if I change the one at work to the one I use at home, I can still do it. I thought that's what it was at first, so I checked it. I've looked at all the lisps I have loaded and I don't see any that look like it would be what I need. Granted, I don't know squat about lisps...the only one I recognise is the steel shapes lisp, and the only reason I know what it is is because it's name is 'steel shapes'. I suppose I don't absolutely have to have it, but it sure makes things easier when moving drawings from work to home, and vice versa. Quote
Lee Mac Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Have you checked what LISPs are in startup suite or in ACADDOC.lsp? Quote
skeet monroe Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 Yep. But like I said before, I have no idea what I'm looking for. I guess I could just take them all, and have the exact same stuff on my computer at home. The thing is, I only need the text one. If I knew what I was looking for in the lisps, and if that's what it is, then I think I could find it with no problem. The only thing that is in the start up suite is the steel shapes lisp. So I know that's not the one. Quote
chauncy274 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I'm thinking that yall probably have an .shx file at work similar to what we use for our drawings. If I type in a lower case "i" it returns a 1/2 fraction that's stacked. Look around or search your computer for that type of file and place it anywhere on your support file path on your home computer. Might need to load it somehow but I believe even just dragging the icon onto the screen of your autocad session will do that for you. Our file is pretty common and it's called simpfrac.shx. You might could download that somewhere and use that at home. Always works great for me. Quote
CAB Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Note that just because the font file has the same name it doesn't mean that they are identical. To be sure you should back up the font file & then copy the one from work onto your computer. Also make sure you don't have two font files of the same name on any one computer. Quote
BLOACH85 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 We use the same type of font file @ work The only way to get it to work @ home is copy the font file and load it @ home. Quote
skeet monroe Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 How would I copy the font from work and load it at home? Can I just email myself the font, or is there more to it? Quote
CAB Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Email will work or the delivery. Remname the file at home or move it to a safe place, then save the email copy to the folder where you found the home file. Quote
skeet monroe Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 It was the font! I was able to get it home and everything worked perfectly. Thanks everyone for your help. Quote
