frazer Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Hi All My first post and one that has plagued me since the very begining XREF's. I am presently working on a design and build project, CAD is not my day job but i produce our companies drawings, presently the GA Floor plan is up to revision G this is a small project and there are a crazy number of revisions. However you can get the picture, everytime I submit my drawings and change designs, the floor plan is upgraded and I am told to ammend the floor plan. I figured the best way would be to XREF the floor plan to my mechanical design, so in the event the plan ends up out of date I can remove it and add the new. Would this be the best way? Also I can never get quite to grips with these things, i have to upload them to a project server, in this instance when somebody else opens the files will the xref have gone a stray and is there a way to link them where this will not happen, if somebody could explain this to me i would be very greatful, remember compared to most of you guy's i am a complete noob. Thanks in advance Quote
Dipali Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Use 'relative path method to xref so that the links will not be broken in case you move the drawings to your server. there is a thread discussing how to assign relative path. if you do search you may find it, or i will find it later & post a link Quote
