Exwprovlima Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I'm running autocad 2008 under vista home premium sp1. When I try to print I select my printer from the drop down list but the following message appears (attached image) and the printer is reset to 'none'. My printer works just fine with all other programs. Any suggestions on how to solve this? Thank you. Quote
ReMark Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Have you been able to plot with this printer in the past? What is the make/model of printer you are using? Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer? Quote
Exwprovlima Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 I have been using it with the same autocad version on my other pc with win xp. The printer is a HP Deskjet 1280. I have tried reinstalling both autocad and the printer but problem remains. Quote
ReMark Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Whoever told you to uninstall then reinstall AutoCAD to resolve a printer problem should have his head examined. WinXP on one system and Vista Home Premium on the other. You got the right drivers for the Vista system? Quote
ReMark Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Are we talking networked computers and printer? Quote
Exwprovlima Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 *Problem Solved* To install the printer i simply plugged the usb and vista automatically installed the drivers from the cd that came along with the printer. All other programs recognized the printer except autocad. I went over to the hp website and downloaded some drivers. Then I installed them from printer properties > advanced (running under administrator) and autocad now 'sees' the printer. I'm writting this in case it might be of assistance to somebody in the future. Thank you for your quick replies. Quote

ReMark Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 divy: I would suggest that you visit the website of the manufacturer of your printer and download the necessary drivers. When prompted for the location just use the Browse button to point to the location of the folder that contains the drivers. Quote
