iamlegend Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 im looking for more tutorials like: Site Layout Exercise I think its great copying it, but im looking for a tutorial that goes into greater detail on how to do it. I.e what scale they are using etc etc any ideas? Quote
ReMark Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 What types of tutorials? Mechanical, architectural, other? One suggestion: Buy a good aftermarket AutoCAD book. Many now come with a CD that has drawing examples keyed to the chapters. Quote

Ive seen quite a few books in pc world, im going to buy one or two on my way home. Quote
ReMark Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 You can't go wrong with books by George Omura, Ellen Finkelstein or Ralph Grabowski. As regards tutorials just do a search on Google. Type in the following (exactly as you see it): "autocad"+"tutorials" That should pull up a goodly number of hits. Quote
Tankman Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I would stick with the books. Or online when you need a change. Along with any exercises, try drawing something you know. The secret? Work, work, work! "Only practice makes perfect!" Quote
Memnon Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Are there tutorials / books that are industry specific eg. architectural - electrical? Quote
ReMark Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I know of at least one book that is specific to AutoCAD and architecture and that would be AutoCAD 2009 and AutoCAD LT 2009 No Experience Required by Jon McFarland, Wiley Publishing, Inc. The author takes you through the process of drawing a small cabin. Quote
iamlegend Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 hi mark is this the book you mean? http://www.amazon.co.uk/AutoCAD-2009-LT-Experience-Required/dp/0470260580 Quote
ReMark Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 iam: Yes it is. I've got it here beside me as a matter of fact. The book does not come with a CD but rather a link to a website where you can compare your drawing to the author's. Quote
iamlegend Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 smashing, will buy it later on today Quote
ReMark Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Smashing. Where are you located? The U.K.? Quote
ReMark Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I'll have to keep that in mind when I post to some of your threads. Different units of measure. Thanks. Quote
