Hi,
Don't really know what is happening here but I seem to get fuzzy text
when I'm doing a leader or when I'm pasting in text.

It's been temperamental, maybe once every 6 months but now it's pretty
much all the time. It seems to be related to snap points, if I do a
leader with osnap switched on I get fuzzy text, if I do it with osnap
off I get clear text.

It's shown most in the difference between the two g's in the image
attached.

When I print stuff it comes out normal with clean edges but when I'm
zooming in and out in both paper and model space its distorts and isn't
as easy to read as it should be, the more i scroll out the worse it gets.

I've applied all the AutoCAD LT 2007 updates available on windows XP but
it doesn't seem to have made any difference.

Does anyone know what is causing this or how I might cure it?

There is a native bug in AutoCAD which makes TTF (true type font) text to look fuzzy whenever the text has a Z coordinate other than exactly 0, a width factor other than 1, an oblique angle, etc.

Try setting the text elevation to 0.

thanksAutoCAD fonts can be either .TTF (true type) or .SHX (shape file). When you go to the Text Style dialog box it tells you which one of the two font types your text style is using.

It's a matter of preference to use one or the other. In the good old days, we would stay away from TTF to optimize performance. Now, it pretty much doesn't matter although it is not possible to do a windows search for text strings of a .SHX font, without 3rd-party applications.

It is I who should thank you. I was going to refute your claim about AutoCAD TTF fonts until I recalled this article. I would have embarassed myself once again. That's the price I pay for being too quick to hit the Post Quick Reply button.
