So first time poster here, but I have a question/problem (not sure If this is the most appropriate place to ask but seeing as how it's a 3d problem I though I'd ask anyway) but my pic is my problem (in red).

not sure how to get the curve in the solids (inside the red). I tried fillet but that didn't work, any help would be appreciated.

Fillet is defiantly the answer, try again.

is there any special way of doing it because I keep getting the error

"Failed to perform blend.

Failure while filleting."

I don't quite remember (it's been awhile) but is there a way of selecting the faces when its all one object? because i'm only being able to select corners and edges..

Is your model all one solid?

All you need to do is sellect fillet, click the edge specify the radius and you have your fillet.

your model needs to be all one solid. It also needs to be given a radius that isnt larger than your flat side. If there are any gaps or spaces between the parts it will also give you an error.

It appears as though you are trying to model a weld bead? Are you a student? Inventor will do weldments. It will let you weld two pieces together and fillet can(if you choose) show a weld bead like you have drawn.

the only thing i have drawn and uploaded is this but you can see the weldbead

Paying attention to the AutoCAD command prompts is a good place to begin. Also, consult your AutoCAD Help files re: Fillet command use with solids. I am confident you can actually figure this out yourself and obtain the desired results. Give it another try.

I figured it out :D turns out I needed to use chain with fillet. Thanks a lot for the help everyone.

That is great news. Good for you! A little perseverance goes a long way and in the course of figuring it out yourself you gained some added knowledge. Well done.

I also ran into this issue tonight while working on a part. While selecting the edges in Chain mode, it shows a nice preview but then when you hit enter it states there is error message as stated above. I have messed around and played all kinds of fillet sizes down to almost nothing but something is keeping it from working. I wouldn't mind figuring this one out as well.

Gmhall: Post a copy of what you have and someone here will take a look at it.

Then why did you completely ignore response #6 in this thread?

Not even a screen shot.

It was late when i posted to this thread and I planned on posting a file and screen shot today. ;-)

Here is the screen shot and the file to look at. I am trying to fillet around the spinner fairing to the cowl body. I have not been able to get a continuous fillet to form even though it shows a nice preview before pressing enter.

Well, even after zipping the file, its too big to upload here. Let me see how I can host it so someone can download it.
