Jrose Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I need assistance in moving some fillets in the 3d model. I have tried everything I can and it doesn't work. Am I missing a step here. Can anyone help. Thanks Quote
ReMark Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Reorient your UCS to match the slope then use the solids editting command "Move Faces". Quote
Jrose Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 Remark I moved my ucs and use the move faces command and it still won't work. Is there something else i can do. Quote
rgarjr Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Well for one, you can't really see what you wanna move on that pic. Quote
JD Mather Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Is there something else i can do. You could zip your file and attach it here to see if someone else can get the geometry you need. Another option might be to use the solidedit Delete Faces to remove the fillets and then put them back in after moving the planar faces. Quote
ReMark Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 You can take JDM's advice and post the drawing here or you can try again. I have to admit that it is sometimes difficult to decipher the cryptic command line prompts of AutoCAD and this can lead to a bit of confusion on what is being demanded of the user. Either consult your AutoCAD Help files or locate a tutorial about the "Move Faces" command then give it one more try. If you are not successful then do what needs to be done to allow us to assist you. Quote
Jrose Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 I just zip the drawing. Can anyone help. Thanks Quote
ReMark Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Seems odd but all I get is a series of three folders called TEMP.dwg, ADOBEAPP and FONTSYS. What did you do? Quote
Jrose Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 I can't load the drawing now. It's to big. Is there another way. Quote
ReMark Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Can't load it and can't zip it small enough? How large is this drawing file? Quote
Jrose Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 The drawing itself is 1.77mb, the zip file is 306kb. Just barely over the limit of 250kb. Quote
ReMark Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Is there more to the drawing than what you are showing us? Has it been purged? Can you WBlock out just the object itself to reduce the file size? Quote
Jrose Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 I purged it and it finally worked but i also had to delete my notes of what i need to be done to this drawing but they are still on the first thread i posted. sink.zip Quote
ReMark Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Well then, now that you were able to get it here, let's hope someone can assist you. Quote
JD Mather Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 To continue that incline another 15 inches causes an intersection with other geometry (Seen from back side in attached - above the red line) I would cut that entire area out and continue the slope up, put the horizontal geometry back in and fillet. sink_jd.zip Quote
Jrose Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 JD Mather, This is exactly what I was looking for except there is and extra line in that sink and the sink itself has a thickness to it, maybe that is what that line is. It needs to move back where the fillets are. If the slope changes then thats ok too. Quote
ReMark Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Jrose: Did you manage to solve your problem? Quote
Jrose Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 ReMark, I did get it solved thank you for you help. Quote
ReMark Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 ReMark, I did get it solved thank you for you help. That's good news. Would you mind sharing with us how you did it? I thought JDM's advice would put you onto the right track. Quote
