monodesign Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Hi. I've got a problem with my blocks. I'm designing a library and I'm making blocks with attributes. My problem: When I import a block into an drawing through DesignCenter the block sometimes changes its name from e.g TEST to *U35 or similar. When this happens I loose all my information in the attribute because the block information is lost. It seems to me that this happens when I rotate or use some of the dynamic features of the block. What to do? The attributes provides me a list of products in the drawing, but it is skipping the blocks that changes name. Also it seems to change name when I close the file and re open it. , Quote
JBullseye74 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 If you list the block does it show like this? my lists the block name and another anonymous name. My blocks are also Dynamic - this shouldn;t have an affect on your attribute extraction. Quote
monodesign Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 I can't seem to find the information that you provide through the text window, what kind of selection do you make to get the information? Okay I think I have found the source for the problem; rotate action. When I use the rotate action I'm not able to extract my attributes, but if I rotate my object with rotate tool I keep my attributes. The trouble now is that I've got a position number/part number and I don't want it to rotate with the object (the number is the only visible attribute, the others are hidden). Can I somehow lock the attribute text so it always stays level and do not rotate with the block? , Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 How are your attributes set up? If they are fields, what are they linked to? Could you copy the actual contents of the field (i.e. all the junk in the % signs at the bottom when setting up the field)? Quote
JBullseye74 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 This must be a 2009 problem sorry, it shouldn't change your block name or affect your attribute extraction when you rotate it... have to hand you over to someone else............ P.S. have you installed SP1 for 2009 i know there were a few problems with the data extraction which needed fixing. Quote
