Lazarus Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Hello,i'm building a new rig wich will be used mainly for CAD oriented programs(AutoCAD,3Ds MAX).I have a choise between two graphic cards: 1.Nvidia 9800GT 2.Ati Radeon HD4850 I know the cards are not CAD oriented but that's all i can afford and choose on the market in my country. So wich card can handle better these kind of programs?Thank you. ReMark Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I would choose the ATI Radeon HD 4850 even though I am a dedicated nVidia user (former ATI user). I think it will be a faster card and it supports both DirectX 10.1 and OpenGL 2.0. What would these cards cost you in your country? Just curious. Quote
Lazarus Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 Thanks alot for the reply ReMark They are both around the same price 150 euros(190USD)...around 50 bucks more than in the States. Quote

kevinp Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 HD4850 is as fast as an 9800GTX, coming close to a 9800GTX+ The 9800GT is the exact same thing as nvidias old 8800GT, with a smaller architecture and rebranded name. Quote
Lazarus Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 Yes,the case is closed,i'm going with the HD4850. Thanks everyone. Quote
