Hi I am very new to 3D drawing

I am trying to use the shell command on a simple cube, when I select the cube I click on the top face and then again to remove bottom but the command line shows that I have only selected 1 face. when I have enter the distance it removes the bottom face but not the top.

is there something stopping me from selecting the top face of a cube?

thanks for your help

Are you sure you clicked on the top face? Sometimes while in Wireframe mode it is hard to say what is up and what is behind other faces. For removing more surfaces, you can use the 3DORBIT command transparently to bring the desired faces up.

Does this help?

I am in realistic view, I try to shell the face facing me but it does not pick it it picks the face on the opposite side of the cube.

Because I can only shell 1 face I am drawing the cube twice as high then shelling the bottom face, then I slice the object at its midpoints to give the desired result.
